What We Do
The Technical Services Team is a comprehensive support provider to the SunPork Group. It consists of 22 employees whose mission is to optimise the SunPork value chain through services spanning across five key areas: support, veterinary services, nutrition, innovation and quality.
Training, Benchmarking and Decision Support
The Technical Services Team ensures that the SunPork Group remain leaders in pork industry training in Australia and New Zealand. Benchmarking and decision support is also provided to the Group via the management of statistical process control tools.
Veterinary Services
The Veterinary Services Team provides health and production solutions to the SunPork Group and consists of field veterinarians and support staff. The Veterinary Services Team, working together with the farms, are committed to the responsible and ethical care of animals to ensure their comfort, health and welfare.
Nutrition
Nutrition is key to ensuring that all pigs eat feed that allows them to thrive. The SunPork Group Nutrition Team ensure that the nutrients and the feedstuffs in the feed are tailored to the pig. Determining the most economical choice of feedstuffs with the highest needs for quality and consistency, is an essential part of what the Nutrition Team do.
Science, Technology and Adoption
This team consists of scientists and support staff who have expertise in pig reproduction, welfare, behaviour, physiology, metabolism and meat science. The goal of the Science, Technology and Adoption Team is to identify issues, test interventions, and facilitate the integration of successful methodologies into pig production and processing.
Quality
SunPork is committed to quality assurance processes and principles, including internal and third-party review, audit and verification. All of our farms are accredited under the Australian Pork Industry Quality Assurance (APIQ) program. SunPork-owned abattoirs maintain an Approved Arrangement with the Australian government. In addition, SunPork is committed to compliance with all customer and retailer quality requirements.
